Journey South with Calmwater Kayaker!

John, Joey, Clay and Frank from the HDTV Fishing show, Journey South, spend a day on the water with Calmwater Kayaker on May 27th. Choupiquer put the guys on a bunch of specs and John got some great footage of  the show's Host, Dr. Frank Sullivan, raking in the fish!  D-Wray hooked a monster redfish and he was off on a "Cajun Sleighride" with cameraman, Joey, in tow.  The Big Red took them two islands away!  D-Wray was a little worried because his rod was only equiped with 10 pound test line to land the 20+ lb. fish.  But D-Wray summonded his expert skills and coaxed the big red to the yak, finally landing him - much to Joey's relief, as he had more than 20 minutes of tape invested in the adventure! After a little air time for the redfish, D-wray carefully released him back into the water to catch again another day.
Back at the dock, Clay Pinson, the show's Chef, cooked the day's catch using one of Choupiquer's own recipes: Pan Seared Speckled Trout with Mango Salsa Salad.

Fishing from a kayak can be a wet and wild experience!  It is a perfect activity for a hot summer day.  In fact I like to call it Hi-Tech surf fishing.   Below is a brief explaination of the services we offer.

A typical CALMWATER KAYAKER adventure begins an hour or so before sunrise where your guide will greet you near Point Fourchon.  Your guide, Choupiquer, is a highly experienced and knowledgable fisherman who is eager to share his expertise with you.

You can expect to be transported to a variety of locations around Grand Isle or Fourchon where you'll be launched in the comfort a sit on top kayak rigged out for a productive day of fishing.

Since all of our voyages are dictated by weather and tidal flow, we will choose the most productive and comfortable areas for your fishing pleasure.  We may relocate several times during the day, depending on the constantly changing conditions.

Our Sit on top fishing kayaks are all equipped with everything you'll need to enjoy a fantastic experience. A bow or stern mounted anchor, a seat with back rest, a graphite double paddle, a Coast Guard approved floatation device,  an aerated portable live bait bucket (if you're minnow dependent), and even fishing gear is standard equipment.  You are welcome to bring your own rod and reel, if you choose.

When you choose a kayaking adventure with CALMWATER KAYAKER,  your comfort and safety are our highest priority.  We have chosen the sit on top kayaks because they are a very stable fishing platform.

You may choose to use one of the casting or spinning combos or bring your own favorite gear.  An aerated live bait well and a trout stringer are both available.
